HCI researcher exploring how can we design public-sector AI systems that citizens can trust appropriately.
Namaste! My name is Siddharth. I am a postdoctoral researcher at University of Amsterdam working with Prof. Maarten de Rijke and with Dr. Roel Dobbe at TU Delft on studying citizen's trust in human-AI interaction with a focus on public sector AI system. Prior to this role, I spent a year working with Prof. Ben Crum at AI & Digital Governance lab at VU Amsterdam as a postdoc fellow. I completed my PhD from the Interactive Intelligence group, Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering & Mathematics of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Netherlands, working with my advisor Dr. Myrthe Tielman and promotor Prof. Catholijn Jonker. I am fortunate and grateful to have wonderful supervisors who have received some of the highest honors such as ACM Fellow and Order of the Lion of the Netherlands.
My research interests are at the intersection of AI Safety, HCI and Trustworthy AI, and their application in domains such as AI governance and policy-making. In my PhD, my main focus was on designing for appropriate trust in human-AI interaction. To do this, I combined formal and computational social science approaches with human-centered design to develop AI systems.
My research were generously supported by TAILOR Connectivity Fund, Dr. Jost Henkel Stiftung Scholarship from Henkel and Deutschlandstipendium from RWTH Education fund. I have also worked in industry such as at Siemens Research, Mazda, Grohe and as a member of app review board for Microsoft (Student Partner).
